Pattern: Entrelac Socks (from the book Socks, Socks, Socks)  Yarn: Claudia Hand Paints Fingering color: Deep Blue

Yeah, if I had Fred Flintstone feet, these would fit.  But I don't and they don't.  They're done and I'm glad.  I had problems understanding parts of the instructions (starting the entrelac after finishing the heel) so I improvised.  My version looks similar to the picture in the book so I'm not worried about that part.

These socks are basically a tube with an afterthought type of heel (although its technically not an afterthought since it's constructed as you go).  Boy, my sock terminology is pathetic.

I ran out of yarn on the second sock so I had to rob Peter to pay Paul.  Thank goodness I hadn't woven in the yarn tails on the first one.  It was easier to undo several rows of ribbing so I'd have enough to finish sock 2.  That's why there is only about 1 1/2" ribbing on each one.  Here's all the yarn I had left (including the bits after weaving in the tails):

The socks are different shades too.  Each sock was knit from a separate skein and I can tell the difference.

So right now they are in the dryer.  I hand washed them in hot sudsy water with cold water shocks off and on.  I didn't see any noticeable felting which would have been okay with me at this point.  I don't think the yarn is a superwash since the instructions say to hand wash/machine wash delicate.  I wasn't delicate when I hand washed that's for sure.  They also turned the water blue so there is some dye leakage (stupid terminology again).  Don't wash them with light colors!

For all the complaining and ripping out and patching up (near the heel where I improvised) I still enjoyed this knit.  I'll be thinking about what my next entrelac project will be.  I really like the Lady Eleanor shawl from Scarf Style so maybe something like that...
