View Article  Dust off the sewing machine...

...it's time to sew.

I have the task of making some new curtains for the "Easter Egg".  That's the name my mother gave our trailer due to it's shape and color.  I haven't sewn for maybe a couple of years.  I've since remodeled my sewing room into an office for work and play and the machines are covered and tucked away on shelves.  Since the roller blinds in the trailer are falling apart (circa late 1970's) I am now facing a needle of a different sort.

This fabric came from Vintage Trailer Supply and the colors compliment the exterior and some of the interior of the trailer.  The interior was remodeled within the past 10 years by a previous owner and it's nice enough but not quite our style.  Right now the fabrics are browns and black and taupes with a French bistro theme tapestry and a few plaids thrown in.  We hope to redo it again with a little more kitsch and color but we'll probably wait until DS is on his own and we travel alone.  I can control the dirt factor a little better then.

I've been trying to come up with an idea of incorporating a bit of knitting with the new curtains but I haven't had the light bulb go on yet.

~Inner monologue: ...maybe since I have a stupid headache and it is canceling out the inspiration.  Make it go away...~

Yarn: Crystal Palace Panda Cotton color: Strawberries-Lime   Crystal Palace Bamboozle color: Seascape  &  Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply

From: Jimmy Beans Wool

First off, this shipment was fast!  I ordered it last Thursday and here it is on Monday.  Wow!  And that was regular shipping-no upgrades.

My main reason for placing an order was to buy the Panda Cotton.  I saw this post and drooled.  I even bought the same color (call me a copycat, a lemming...).  Both the Panda and Bamboozle  have the same fiber content (55% bamboo, 24% cotton, 21% elastic nylon) and I think they even come in the same colorways.  The Panda is fingering weight and would make nice socks and the Bamboozle is closer to a worsted (recommended #8-10 needles).  I don't think 2 skeins of the Panda will be enough to make adult size socks--unless they have a short cuff.  As far as the stretch goes, I have to compare it to Cascade Fixation or Elann's Esprit or even Classic Elite Star and right off, it doesn't have as much.  I'm just making a guess here, but I think that elastic nylon isn't as stretchy as Lycra/elastane.  Only a swatch will truly tell.
